The story behind that picture We were doing some typical family-oriented shopping at the Woolworths down our local high street about a year or so ago. As we were browsing around the kiddies toys and clothes section we came across a Photo-Me booth like you do in almost every Woolworths store. All of a sudden we developed some sort of urge for a spontaneous "group photo" of all four of us pulling faces into the camera - just for a laugh. (Just like the ones that your parents keep of you - saved up in photo albums from the 1970s). Anyway - we managed to all to squeeze in - and I dropped the requisite coins into the machine. Only - this was no ordinary photo booth ... (story continues on the right hand side) Related Links Detailed info on this photo booth |
No ordinary photo booth No - this was one of the hi-tech ones that has a really easy to use computerised menu system that allows you to choose from a zillion different styles and a zillion different formats. In fact it was so easy to use - whilst I was scratching my head trying to figure out how to drive the thing - my daughter had already pressed a few buttons and somehow managed to get it to warn us that there were 10 seconds left until the picture was going to be taken. At this point I had no choice but to command us all to look into the camera - which we all did (except for Ami of course) and then FLASH! The picture was taken. I quickly reminded everyone that there were another three snaps to go - and asked everbody to remain seated and wait for the next one. Only this was no ordinary photo booth. No - this was one of those photo booths that only takes *one* picture - and prints it four times! Hey ho - I suppose we looked stupid for a moment - but nobody was looking so it didn't matter. Eventually, when the photo came out - it turned out as an "olde worlde" style picture. The best use I have had for it is as you see it - getting it scanned in for use as our cheesy family picture for our home page! |
